Favourite victim in Frenzy?

I’m not really sure what I want to say in this post but bear with me and please respond if possible.
There are 4 victims in the film but only one and a half murders as it were. For our community I suppose the answer to my question must be the full murder shown, Brenda Blaney in the office. I’m sure we all remember how excited we were at Hitchcock’s ground-breaking portrayal of assault and strangulation. And yet, how many of us feel that he could have gone further? The attack is lauded as the longest in screen history but, let’s face it, it is still too short. And for myself, I would have liked to see her torn pantyhose and panties dangling off one of her legs after the murder.
However on the premise that we can let our imaginations roam freely, my favourite victim would be the blonde one in Rusk’s bed in the final scene. Why do I say this?
Firstly, as presented, she is stunning – the first sight of her arm and bracelets, the revelation of her nude torso as the sheet is pulled back, her small but firm breasts with huge aureoles, the necktie knotted impossibly tight at the front of her throat, her forced out tongue, her wide eyes staring at nothing and her halo of blonde hair.
Secondly – my imagined back story. I assume she is a prostitute who’s agreed to go to Rusk’s flat. The money is handed over and perhaps he gives her a drink since he is so charming. He makes her laugh anyway. Then the undressing – does she strip for him or does he undress her? Then they are nude in his bed, she as a professional making all the right noises as he pushes into her, her legs wound around his hips. I think this is what really gets me – the lovely warm soft roundness and naked vulnerability of the beautiful blonde hooker who is simply turning a trick and has no idea what is about to happen. When he fails to orgasm, does she make soothing noises and tell him it will be fine the next time? We all know what happens next, it’s just a great pity that Hitchcock couldn’t show it, nor I think has any producer done it exactly as I imagine it.

I haven't seen the full movie but have seen the famous strangle scene and a couple other scenes that showed the other lovely vics. Way back I wrote a loosely based remake scene of that onscreen frenzy strangle scene. The killer did a little more too like necro rape. She wore black stockings. It was my own loosely based fantasy version scene. Its amazing how one scene can inspire many versions.

horror directors are like us I think. they vent out the darkness that lies in us somewhere in our hearts into horror flicks. Also fetishes.

Well Hitchcock definitely had a fetish for blondes - not necessarily a DS one as such, but definitely a 'blonde in peril' itch he needed to incorporate into his movies. Whether it was entirely for his benefit or for the audiences I am not completely sure...

we may never know. its fun to think the what if on that. maybe every horror director does. its a mystery. find it so interesting how the frenzy strangle scene having a dark fantasy effect on many or a sexual fetish effect on some. The elements it shows that gives that certain thrill. I may not fully love that scene but I can relate to it.
