Frenzy - Hypothetical Remake Cast

[Rusk is my hero]

There was a question on the IMDB Frenzy board recently on who you would cast in a remake. The following was suggested – British actors only. What do you think and who would you put in these roles?

Richard Blaney – Daniel Craig – has the sort of repressed violence that makes you think he might be a murderer

Bob Rusk – David Tennant – has the ability to be open and genial but can suggest a malignancy lying under the surface

Brenda Blaney - Kate Winslet - same age as Barbara Leigh Hunt was when Frenzy was made

Babs Milligan – Sienna Miller

Inspector Oxford – Kenneth Branagh

Mrs. Oxford - Imelda Staunton

Monica Barling – Fiona Shaw – can do outrage and repression very well

Good cast, but they'll never remake that movie and if they did it'll be toned down :-( I quite surprise how after doing so many custom videos for the remake of the famous strangling scene, private or not, how no one has asked for a remake of Babs getting killed. As you will recall she is killed in flash back, it would have been nice to see her killed in the same degree of detail as Brenda Blaney. :-)

I have been tempted by the Babs scenario but can’t quite find a handle on it to produce a narrative.
We should always remember that it’s just a film and not spend too much effort on analysis but I have often been puzzled by the fact that in the flashback murder it is implied that she is nude or topless. All we know of course is that her shoulders are bare.
Has Rusk forcibly stripped her or has he successfully seduced her into a state of undress, with them drinking almost a full bottle of wine? The second seems unlikely as you imagine that Babs would be loyal to Blaney.
Now that would give a handle into a script – Rusk perhaps initially just partly unbuttoning her jacket or blouse, making a joke of it, her laughing then getting more uneasy as he touches her leg, trying to leave and being held back, fighting him off unsuccessfully as he strips her and then…

Consider a clothes ripping scenario wherein Babs resists, Rusk rips clothes as she struggles (ala comments to Mrs Blaney..). Unable to get her to submit he moves quickly to remove tie and strangle her. Then he assaults her nude submissive body.

Alternate is ripped clothing, forcible assault then displeasure, the tie and murder. Possible strip body then wrap for the potato truck, potato bag and potatoes.

I do not believe ... Barbara Leigh Hunt was 37 years old at the time of the film. But I discovered that Kate Winslet is 37 years old!! Funny ... I thought Kate Winslet was much younger ...

Three actresses always comes to my mind when I imagine a new Brenda Blaney: Amanda Tapping, Tea Leoni and Traylor Howard. All they blondes, gorgeous and perfect victims.

The idea of ​​seeing one of them being brutally and slowly strangled with a necktie fascinates me ...
