Favourite Aspect of the Boards???

Hello All,

I'm sure everyone has a favourite reason for coming here. I was just curious as to what it is. There are, after all, free videos and images shared, stories, reviews, discussions on and off topic, the associated FF paysite, producers' advertisements, the availability of many genre producers with whom you can interact, etc., etc....

So, why are you here? What brings you here as opposed to other forums on this, or other, topics. For years, I used to hang out at an on-line writers' workshop and review other writers' works as well as have my short stories reviewed. I developed a great group of on-line friends there, and spent as much time chatting as writing after a while. It was one of those on-line friends who indirectly introduced me to this erotic death fetish world. Now, I enjoy interacting with my many friends on this site.

So, what about you?

I think I find the exchange of ideas and information in this community desirable. Although I'm not a producer, the exchanges are very educational for a fan like me.

I came here to interact with other people, and for the most part , the experience has been rewarding. I guess I was really relieved to find people with the same interest and fetish.

As I gained more experience on the board, I decided that I might want to learn how to write customs, and study the behind the scenes makeup of the people who produce the videos we all enjoy. Well that also has been an interesting and rewarding experience, and I am still learning.[

I have to state this first: Right or wrong, the Forum Owner can manage it anyway he or she wants with no explanation. This could be 10,000 rules or none and apply them as he sees fit. There is no right or wrong way to manage a forum, in my view. The poster makes the decision if they want to post there or not.

I post at the following forums, I post for pleasure and generally not for business: (Note: There are other forums and have not had time to even look at most and some may be Excellent.)

Necrobabes Public Forum: 2 rules: 1) no one is to talk about in a story or otherwise about anyone under 18. 2) No one can post requesting real snuff.
You can post Anything you want on or off topic.
Self moderating: Every poster is empowered to moderate if someone is out of line. Believe me, you don't want to be out of line or 20 posters will flame you to where you will never come back.
There have been only 2 deletions in over 11 years - one person asking for real snuff and I forgot the reason for the other. Nothing else has been done, no one ever banned or suspended.

Poisoned Paradigm: About the same as Necrobabes Public Forum. You can post as you see fit. 95% self moderating, no one ever banned or suspended.

FF: Not self moderating but so far I have been able to post pretty much as I want and feel comfortable here.

DS: Not self moderating but now my second time there, so far so good.

I have my own forum, password protected, and it is Very private. It is 100% self moderating, everyone has equal rights. Never have had to pull rank(that I recall) in about 8 or so years it has been operating.

Honorable Mention: The Black Plague Message Board - by invitation and password protected.
99% Self Moderating open for probably 8+ years and very successful. You could post about absolutely anything on or off topic - mostly off topic. The owner Sonja shut it down due to burn out.

What I like with any forum: Not to be concerned or worry any of my posts being treated with sanctions, disrespect, deleted, etc. I feel the forum must be a stress free as possible and without having to keep looking at your post to see if it has been attacked by a moderator or flamed for no good cause.... if it is, others will help you when you are attacked. This is the reason I prefer self moderated forums and it encourages lurkers to post.

Like the rest of the webmasters here I have had at least 20 message boards (all self moderating) and about the same number of clubs or groups ( self moderating). Some have lasted for years but in the end all have been deleted by the host because of content, except the private one I have...please no one ask about it, I wont reply.

PS: I have 2 X-Rate Groups, Howard moderates one and I have the other. Just a side note: I paid X-Rate Groups but it is free to join. I feel everyone should support John, if you are financially able, to help keep these groups up and if you can afford it, join his sites.

Actually, thanks for the rundown on those other boards. I'm amazed that you and JohnM visit so many boards on a regular basis. How do you find the time?

One question. I have been to PP and my understanding is that there are moderators just like here, and that it's not self-moderated.

Also, these self-moderated boards sound to me like they self-moderate by ostracizing those who don't tow the line. Is that right? I'm just trying to understand. I firmly believe that with adults you should be able to step back and almost never have to moderate, but what happens when you have a cyber-stalker like Bellystabber_killer stalking the board's female members. How is that handled on self-moderated boards... or has that problem never arisen?

How do we find the time: I don't know but I would guess JohnM like me loves what we do in this genre and we make the time. Blue, you are in this category as well.

Poisoned Paradigm: The moderators will delete spam and do some things but there are limits. The larger questions and problems are handled by others that are not known to the public nor are they the owners of record. These 'others' want to keep moderation and rules down to just the bare basics.

In very few cases most to all the primary posters flame him or her to the point that many have left our community completely. It amounts to the judgement and action of the majority of posters of the Forum rather than the judgement of the single owner/administrator of the Forum.

In the case of 'Bellystabber_killer stalking' was physically caught and turned over to the authorities as are all stalkers in our community.

It sounds like you have had shitty luck with boards and I completely understand.

Granted, I think it is all about how things are processed by each individual. For instance, my need to support my business, my desire to have access and knowledge outweighs my personal pride with regard to the things that happen on the forums. It also comforts me that 3 years ago, I launched my own forum with various goals and have achieved those. It is a sanctuary for when I do feel like things are getting out of hand. I am glad you have one too now as well.

I think each board has it's own personality, like pets and their owners. Like me, my forum is informative, giving, talky, sometimes withdrawn, hardly ever confrontational. I bet PP, DS, and FF are, for the most part, like their owners and that brings color and diversity to the boards.

It is when, as you say, Paul, those bored few come in and their personalities try to take over the feeling of the board....then everything gets out of whack and no matter how entertaining it is or how much new traffic if generates, the owners of the boards need to exercise their rights as "property" owners and chase the kids off the lawn.

I got on this forum mostly because I like Blue. Once here, I've enjoyed watching it grow and I'm also happy to be in the company of some of the genre's better well known producers and actresses that shoot belly related material (Hello Paul, Dalila, Big-O and others). It was also here that I learned that I was/am a cyberbully and decided to limit the number of people I pick on dramatically. I think I'm down to 2 or 3, but it's probably like dieting: once I get the taste back etc. etc.

I'm also here because there are some really cool women that hang out at the bar. (Hello Kelli, Eve, Dalila etc.) Over here, I can respectfully disagree with them and they can respectfully disagree with me--or better yet, we can find lots of things we agree on.

And finally--when I look at the forum, my left eye watches Suzi up in one corner while my right eye is looking at Petra's lovely neck and those nice things peeking out of her nightie.

Two reasons Blue and civility. This board lets the producers promote their works and the fans cheer them and the models on.Without efforts by them no creations or videos would be subject to discusion. Bravo

I came here to enjoy a board with more member flow that has not all the tribulations associated with DS.

Unfortunately, I came on during a rather extensive drama between members of different boards, that has yet to stop. There are threads that get posted and/or locked, seemingly on a daily basis, all in regards to the same crap. This past week has seen the removal of those who would seek to keep this turmoil going. I applaud the action taken and was glad to know there would be finality from further intrusion.

I return from a few days away from this board and what do I find??? - members having wedges driven between them by the same tiring bullshit. I am not pleased seeing these threads. I presume there are others here that are also not enthralled.

I am seeing a thread asking members to give a shout out if they are first time posters here. I wonder if they may be deterred from posting, due to the non-topical threads, that feature so much strife and legal threatening? I know it makes me think twice about interacting here.

Your point is well taken. As owner of this board I was also distressed, and continue to be distressed, about so much time being taken away from discussing our fetish by negative posts that belong elsewhere. That is why I took the actions that did, in order to boot out the troublemakers, and get the topics back on track.

Now, whenever there are two or more people on any message board, there is the possibility of conflicts arising. There's really nothing wrong with that as long as these conflicts are talked out in an overall civil manner. Tempers may flare, but these disputes should not dominate the board. I split just such a topic off from this thread, so that those interested could follow it, and those disinterested could ignore it. I believe that is the proper course, as opposed to deleting the posts and thereby stepping on members' right to express their opinions both on on-topic and off-topic matters.

I sincerely hope that first time posters will not be put off by the fact that a couple of members are having a heated discussion on one of the many threads here. I think we all have to feel comfortable on this forum, both those who have posted like yourself, and those who have yet to post. I am open to suggestions as to how best this can be accomplished. There are moderators here who will keep the peace, if necessary; however, at present, the administration only steps in when members have definitely crossed the lines of civility. I personally don't believe this has happened in the case in question.

I hope that I have satisfactorily addressed your concerns.
