Great to see you on the forum. I'm sure you'll get a warm reception from all of the members here, both customers and producers. It's great news that you're expanding your focus from sleepy fare. You've certainly come to the right place for advice

First piece of advice is to avoid explosive squibs. Those are for Hollywood when there's a qualified explosives expert on set. I, and several producers, use digital effects to produce effective, but completely safe, bullet impacts. There's your first piece of advice.

Oh, and we will be gentle. We just kill beautiful women like you in our fantasies. On the boards, although we may joke about it, we are very welcoming of our female members.

Oh, there is a thread somewhere offering a tour of the Bluestone mansion, but feel free to wander about the sprawling building and gardens beyond. Those lovely ladies lounging by the pool, some with plastic bags wrapped around their beautiful faces, are (or were ) some of our regular Bluestone actresses. Welcome to the forum. I think you'll find us a friendly bunch (for the most part).

I'm not too sure how much I'd rely on FX books. Perhaps you would get a better head start looking at some of the videos available from some of our existing producers. It will give you an idea of what can actually be done without spending a fortune.

You indicated that you have wanted to make the crossover into "snuff", but I'm curious to know if you are looking to broaden your market or if you find elements of the genre exciting in the same way most of us do?

Hello Evangeline, and welcome to our community.

You are in for quite the voyage of discovery moving into this fetish from sleepy. I (I'm also a producer) at one point had to move into sleepy from this fetish (long story).

I want to echo what others have said about avoiding squibs. I would add however that digital effects are also not absolutely necessary. I have done videos using digital effects, and I have done very similar scenes simply using editing cuts, and here is the crux; the videos without the digital effects sold just as well as the videos with the digital effects. Of course the editing has to be seamless for the effect to work. But I've found that the two minutes it takes to get the edit cut matched to the frame, is far less work than the half hour or more (ten minutes maybe after you have a 'lot' of experience) it takes to digitally paint a decent effect. I'll share here some video samples of my own work to illustrate:

First is a sample of digital bullet effects, including gun firing effects. This is Carrie getting machinegunned. (In the full video she ultimately takes three machinegun bursts.) This is what you can do with digital effects, great for when you want to actually see the bullet hit bare flesh.

The second sample is the a full length, full resolution video of a very old video I produced years ago. The set, lighting, sound and framing are not representative of my later work, but the scene is fun (played for camp comedy) and the editing trick for doing a gun shot effect without either digital effects or squibs is clear. 'Big Boss Anna'

Finally, you can use the exact same sort of editing to get a thoroughly convincing stab effect. Check out this fight scene demo; 'Gladiatrix Two'.

It's probably best to not get too technical in a public forum, as knowing how effects are achieved is for some of us, akin to knowing how the illusionist does his tricks. If you want more detail, feel free to send me an Email at panpiper 'at' gmail 'dot' com.

As to what we call this genre, I think 'Erotic Death Fetish' fits it the best, but because it doesn't roll easily off the tongue, it has been called 'Necro', but this is not to be confused with necrophilia, which is having sex with dead people. Generally, our community involves exploring the fantasized death of beautiful women. Although there is a wide range of tastes, just as there is a wide range of sexual fetishes in the general populace, the majority of the work in this industry leans more to non-realistic death scenes, in that the victim usually takes a while to die with lots of sexy writhing, and still looks beautiful when death claims her, as opposed to a short Hollywood-style death scene or an ugly, unrecognizable corpse. Of course, this is my opinion only, and some may disagree. Hopefully, that will at least provide you with some idea of the terminology and subject matter involved. I can state pretty confidently that real death is repugnant to everyone here.

I like to use the terms "erotic horror" or "erotic horror action" to describe my own films.

I am known for having the right "feel" for playing these kinds of death scenes:

That is make them as sensual as possible without spoiling the realism of the death.

As for what I have in mind: I am very open. I am trying to act with better actresses because my ultimate goal is to do more full length films (I have already produced 2) featuring female on female erotic action and combat. (I don't mean lesbian sex scenes BTW, though I will do rated R version of them )

I want to welcome you to the board. I admire you for courageously venturing into the death fantasy video territory. Yes, for my two cents I prefer the words, death fantasy, over death fetish, but you now have a good idea of some of the several titles we apply to our craft.

There are many skilled professional producers here that can help you out with some of you technical questions, so you have picked the right board to reference your questions.
