I swear I bought that exact same knife set down to the pattern. The steel is actually pretty tough--I had problems using a band saw. I ended up using a grinder to do all the modifications on them.

Remember that you can always be stabbed in the nude as well. Saves both time on set and cleaning bills. And for some scenes, like the classic willing sacrifice scenes, nude is the only way to go. (Looking forward to something like that myself.)

And for your friend doing the knife work, make sure he rounds 'all' edges slightly, on both the full knife and the cutdown version.. The camera won't be able to tell even in closeup and you'll save yourself a world of hurt. And if you can afford a couple of extra knives, think about getting two extra cut down blades, one that has about an inch removed from the front and then 'very' rounded, so as to permit it being pushed quite deep into soft tissue without undue discomfort, and another similar with four inches removed. And don't make the mistake of removing 'too much' from the full cutdown blade. Anything more than eight inches and people will be wondering how the knife managed to sink into the table under the victim or why it's not sticking out her back.

Having a set of knives where the cutoff gets progressively shorter allows you to do a scene with a slow stab, the camera cutting of course with a perspective/zoom change between each cut, and each time the knife pushing deeper. If it's properly done, the illusion is quite convincing.

Eve, You make perfect sense. I am not a fan of the "get her naked, just to get her bloody " scene, in fact, I won't buy those.

One producer (have to be careful, he may be here) obtained some of my stock, only to have the victim disrobe after the first minute ( after establishing that she was a cop) then be killed -stabbed naked. In another, cop vs bad girl clip, the cop was over powered and forcefully stripped then strangled naked - she was clothed for 1 minute and 50 seconds out of a seven minute clip.
IF the scene requires nudity, then fine, but ... I guess I want to restate a comment I made to Eve about the first Fright night vid In it she is a strangled cop. The bad guy begins undressing her, then comments that because she's a cop, he'll do "something special" and then ties her in a revealing position... my comment was, just seeing that scene, discovering the body, how would anyone who didn't know her, know she was a cop? He'd taken her clothes off....

Clothing can be cheap, and still look good, my wife and I were rummaging in a resale shop, looking for parts to her "Peg Bundy" outfit for a Halloween party, I noticed a rack of women's shirts and blouses at $1 each, and this stuff wasn't junk either, skirts at $1.50 and even slightly outdated business suits at $10 each. Unless you are doing a medieval shoot requiring custom clothes, spending $10 on clothes, doesn't sound like a big budget breaker.
I'll stop now, don't want to hijack the subject...

I am in agreement with this as well.

I have done a lot of nude work, but it has to make sense with the story line or it just seems gratuitous.

I also think that a sexy outfit can do just as much to enhance the erotic nature of a film as nudity.

Basically you have a choice to make with this kind of film.

You can produce material that satisfies a fantasy but in other ways is not particularly engaging as filmmaking, or you can to the best of your ability try to make a high quality film.

Our productions strive to look as much like standard films as possible within our budget limitations.

We always work with full scripts, and we rehearse before we shoot.
Lighting is an important consideration as are camera angles, sets, costumes...

I am very much looking forward to seeing your work.

That's quite an edged weapon! Now that you have it on order, I'm very anxious to see how you "put it to work". As you purchase more knives, you might want to pay attention to the kind of steel the blade is made out of as it will affect how easy it is to modify the blades for stage work. In general, the top quality manufactures are using harder steels (Benchmade, Cold Steel, Spyderco, MOD, Emerson, etc) and thicker blanks.

I like your approach toward nudity, and I think it will work out well for you.
