Re: Adults-Only Video Games Banned From Streaming
The silliness here is that AO seems to be very subjective.
GTA--San Andreas is less violent and sexual then GTA 5, which has far better graphics, yet GTA 5 is a M rating. WTF.
And, the recent reboot of Carmageddon is only M, yet the goal is simply to run over as many people as possible.
Then, there is Hatred. Getting a lot of flack for want is clearly parody and topical commentary. Graphically, it is good. For an indie game, it is great. But there are goals, levels, silliness and far less violence then many games out there like Witcher 3.
Finally, looking at the games on the AO list--most are old, silly and the graphics are far less vile then some of the segments from Tosh 2.0.
Anyhow, silliness all around.
I don't play games much, but when ratings limit a games ability to get funding like AO does, I see it as a punishment by the industry. M rating is fine. If parents are retards, not my problem. Most 13yo can grasp the concept if in-game violence and sex on a unicorn scenes (aka Witcher 3). And, 10yo's are playing Gary Mod and doing some terrible things that to the unobservant parent (which are many), only resonate as "distraction" for the child.
But I digress.
Point is. Video games are pretend. The ratings should be a general guide for parents. And parents should know there kid enough to know what they can view. Take reality TV for instance. Most is run on prime time, when kids are watching. It no wonder kids done go around saying "Beep" all the time as a naughty world. Know what I mean?
My son showed me the his homework from 8th grade sexual health class and I certainly have never seen anything that in the most graphic in a video game. So, Twitch should stop trying to hurt small business and get some balls.
