Oftenly denied access to Femme Fatalities website

Hi,

I wonder if its just me (or windows Vista), but I can barely access femmefatalities every day. I mean, right now im logged on, I can browse through the topics and boards... but i know that in a couple of hours (or minutes) I`ll just stop loading.

And if I try to refresh the page, or reaccess it I`ll get "page cannot be found" (famous error 404).

Now that only happens with this website. My internet connection is fine with every other sites and the error message is automatic. I mean, it doesnt even take a while to try to load up, it just goes straight to the error message.

I have been a tech support guy in the past. With very little knowledge, just the tech guy that`d help most non-computer skilled users with their inquiries. So I have already tried the basic steps (cookies, cache, firewall/antivirus, security clearances, dll re registrations, etc) but it still doesnt help.

Am I the only one having problems with this website?

Hi SM,

No you are not. I have been trying for some time to locate the problem through my server hosts tech dept. They are asking me to get those who are having access problems to run a tracer route test when you are having problems, so that they can locate the problem, since they see no problem with the server's config. Now, I have asked several people to run these tracer routes, but as soon as they try, the access problem clears up. I'm at the point of simply changing servers, but that is such a disruption.

Anyone who is having these access problems, please email me at DDGBluestone@hotmail.com, and I'll tell you how to perform a simple tracer route test for me.

Have had that problem with broadband card but not with high speed cable access.You get in if you restart computer or sometimes at a certain time period its.wierd.Only with this site.

Hi Blue,

I tried tracert command.

When I cant access femmefatalities the tracert results in: "cant resolve name"
it does seem to be an issue with dsn resolve. I have done some research about this on the net and apparently Windows Vista has a default configuration to use Ipv6 to send packages through the net. Im not sure wether those packages are BiosNet or DNS, dont really know how to verify that.

So I wonder if others that have the same problem are running under windows Vista or not.

I have broadband access. I connect through a router.
I dont need to restart the computer to make it work back on (havent tried thou). The site just starts working back for me from time to time.

The annoying part is that sometimes I cant access the site at all for days and I miss a lot of discussions. Whats worrying is that should it be a problem with Vista, then we have a lot of potential users not being able to access the site and believing its either down, or that it has a shitty connection.

Hi Guys,

This is a real concern of mine that some people are having problems accessing this site. I've decided that I'll have to change servers, and am actively seeking a dedicated server through another company. I'll keep everyone informed as this procedure progresses, and make sure that there is as little disruption as possible when we switch over to a new server.

Have you considered having some computer expert set up a priavte computer as a dedicated servier for you??

That has been suggested to me, but becuase Dennis always carried my material I didn't need to do it.

Hi Dalila,

I will email the tracer route link to you. I do have a dedicated server, but I use a major company so that I can also get unlimited bandwidth for my downloads, since I have over 100 videos on my server which are available for download, as opposed to many producers who only have the last few available, which forces customers to purchase at higher prices from Nicheclips.

Just for the record, I've also had this problem, maybe four times over past couple of weeks. On all occasions but one, I simply deleted my cache and cookies and tried a few minutes later, and all was fine; on one occasion I couldn't access the site for about 2 hours. So far, this problem has only been a minor annoyance for me.

I have a good quote for a new dedicated server linked with one of the fastest and most reliable Internet backbones in the industry with multiple points of redundancy and all Tier1 Providers, including Sprint, Savvis, Telia, Global Crossing, nLayer and Level3. The host data center has a multi Gigabit bandwidth network through two independent POP's while hosting a number of network routers, load balancers, firewalls, Internet servers, switches, and a lot of other computer phrases that I only have a vague idea what they mean

Anyway, I hope to be switched over by early September, which would end all of these continuing access problems. In any event, I predict that the New FF will be on-line before the New DS

Just to keep everyone up to date. I purchased the new server today, and it will be built to my specifications by the end of the week. Then, I will start migrating all of the contents from old server to new. There will be a short period of time where the FF message board will be off-line, so that postings aren't being made during the final switchover, and so that everything can be tested on the new server. I will keep everyone informed as this takes place. We're shooting for the end of August for the final switchover!
