Cinemasphyxia.com - April Updates

The first update for April is in the works. I've been preoccupied with several personal issues. Meanwhile, a teaser trailer for a new indie horror flick debuted yesterday. It's called The Gallows, and will be in select theaters on July 10.

There's really not much to the teaser. It spends most of the 1:28 running time showing a young woman cowering against the edge of a hand rail. A mysterious figure slowly emerges from the shadows with a noose in hand. We then cut to a close-up of the girl now some distance away from the railing as she shows the camera what appears to be ligature marks. Something spooks her, she turns back toward the empty space next to the railing, finds nothing there, and faces the camera again. Then, the noose is quickly dropped over her head, and she's yanked kicking away from the camera as she's dragged down the hallway after losing a shoe.

As a hanging fan who finds gallows and nooses terribly cliche anymore, I rolled my eyes at the title alone, and watched the teaser with a sizable dose of skepticism. Nevertheless, I am hoping for some good material to add to the site. I can't remember the last time I saw any kind of movie in which some form of asphyxia was the principle M.O..
