Tattoos and Piercings!!! Thoughts???

You don't have to be old fashioned to think tongue studs are the dumbest fashion fad ever. (Yeah, I know all about the oral sex thing.) However they aren't as repulsive as massive tattoos. Since when has it been cool to look like a biker slut?

Apparently those in their mid twenties and early thirties think tattoos are sexy. I'm obviously not in that group, but Petra is and she told me today that a few tasteful tattoos are a turn on. When I showed a little dismay, she simply said that they have become the norm for her age group. "You think women dying is erotic, Blue, but many people would not get it. Same with tattoos. Many people don't get it, but our generation does." Every model she knows now has at least one tattoo. Of course, everything in moderation, but apparently tattoos and piercings are sexy.

I don't mind the "tasteful' tattoo, Full body art is a turn off, and "face metal" is a real turn off.
I can live with Perta's belly button bling, but other than the ears, nothing else pierced !

I agree with you, and have had my models remove nose and navel piercings before filming. I am the only person who Petra will remove her navel piercings for, and now she does it without me even asking. "I've removed my belly armour, Blue. Now I really do feel naked"!

Small, tasteful tattoos, like Velvet's ankle tattoo, are cool, and I do like them. Petra, Velvet and I have agreed to disagree about their other tattoos. I would rather have a beautiful blank canvass, but I won't cover Petra up to avoid them, because I'd rather have a nude Petra with tattoos than no nude Petra at all! I'm just using my models as an example, but I'm sure other producers my age have the same issues/feelings.

What I was trying to explain above is that I DO NOT like tattoos and piercings. I have not seen any that enhance a beautiful girl. To my mind, they detract from what God created... but younger people view them differently and find them akin to a cool fashion statement.

I will soon be splitting this topic off and move it (from its original home in the Video and Image Share Forum) to the Main forum to get thoughts from others.

I`ve seen recently Paris Kennedy with huge tatto and for me she looks marvelous (as allways:-)

I like tattos:-) I know I`m minority and I like to be minority
Of course I too have tattos, big ones, made by friend of mine who is probably one of the best tatto artists in central Europe, but those tattos are designed by my self so maybe that is reason I really like them and never regret I have them.
But I dont mind if someone dislike tattos it is absolutely fine. I like to be minority and as I`m male, I dont have to be pretty

I am 30, and have never thought piercings anywhere but the ear are attractive. Navel piercings are tolerable, but face rings of any size or shape are utterly repulsive. I believe in different strokes for different folks, but I can't understand how anyone can seriously find a lip, nose, eyelid or tongue piercing remotely attractive. (I think, for the most part, those who get them don't do it because they find them attractive, either; they get them to fit in with trendy groups.) To me, a girl with a face full of pimples is far more attractive than a girl with a single nose or lip ring.

As for tattoos, I think they look completely disgusting on females, appearing more like dirt at a distance. A small one on the back is the only kind I can tolerate. (I can't even stand them on the ankle.)

Speaking for myself as a male, I've never been remotely interested in getting a piercing/tattoo. They are more a mark of counter/sub-culture conformity than true individualism.

A miniskirt is a fashion statement. A piercing/tattoo is a tribal statement.

My ears are pierced and that is it. No tattoos, can't stand them. Especially, one day when your skin gets looser and wrinkles they will be crumpled. As soon as I see a tattoo on a model I lose interest, it is a complete turn off for me.

As a producer, I have found that tattoes and body "armor" are a challenge for any story. If the model can act, I will compliment the art and make it work in the story. Plus I can have a perp that disdains the art and kills accordingly.

In BIKER WANNABE, Debbie added a press-on tattoo that was featured in the video story. So we can take advantage of the situation.

Generally speaking, my thoughts on most piercings and tattoos are as follows:

Grandma speaking. My travelling daughter has moderate tattooing and ear-piercing, my army daughter just the ears pierced.

I find face piercings unattractive, and I think it must impinge on love-making. My son is Goth and on him the tattoes are impressive (no piercings or adornments), but I'm neutral about my daughter's much smaller selection on her back. It makes coordinating with low-backed outfits difficult too, and I think I've taught her to dress well.

I tried a stick-on tat a few years ago. I had an allergic reaction and my arm swelled alarmingly. So I don't think they're for me, especially echoing Ash's point about the skin losing elasticity as the years attack.

I do think Goth tattoes are tribal and can fit in with the style quite well. My son is identifying with people who feel and think like him. But I'd hate to think anyone got tattooes, with the pain, expense and presumably sllight health risk solely to be fashionable, just as I'd hate anyone to risk anorexia for the same reason. I've tried to become my real self and use what God has given me, and I really can't complain about the results, especially on the male of the species!
