Sultry Suzi personal appearance on FF?

Hot on the heels of FF's Debbie D personal appearance, I have asked Sultry Suzi if she would be interested in making a similar personal appearance on FF, and she has expressed an interest; however, I first have to gauge the reaction here:

1. Would members be interested?

2. Was the Debbie D day and time (Sat. 6-8 pm) a good or bad time? I know it fell right into a lot of people's dinner times. Is there a better day and time... perhaps a week night? Is it too close to Christmas? Should it be scheduled for January?

3. Some of the boards had no problem with me advertising Debbie D's appearance here, but a couple of small-minded boards deleted the announcement. So, people will have to check in here if they wish to keep up to date on all of the exciting news events on FF. The censors are out in force elsewhere

So, let me know your thoughts.

Blue, you will have to stop fibbing. NO board would have deleted an announcement that would be in its members' interests, surely. That would have been a great disservice to those members. Who would do such a thing?

Blue, I for one couldn't do Saturday because of social activities, which is pretty standard for Saturdays around our house. I'd find a weekday evening more likely to fit my own schedule for participation.

Unfortunately, Smudge, some people do put their own personal interests above those of their members. They want to keep their members in the dark... just on the off chance that they'll discover that there are other sites of interest to them out there in cyber space. In doing so, they demonstrate a real control-freak mentality.

Here, we think differently. In fact, we even allow reference to other boards on FF. Shocking, I know! FF members, for example, are free to post on FF something like: "Hey, guys, you may be interested to know that the New DeadSkirts will be launched in 2035! There is a whole thread discussing this topic that you may find of interest, where the majority of members feel that Geno is moving much too quickly with this proposed changeover. Just thought members here might be interested."

FF is a crossroads in our community... a place to find out information... a place that is not afraid to allow producers other than the owner to advertise their wares... a place where reference to Poisoned Paradigm was never a forbidden... a place where free speech is honored and encouraged. Unfortunately, not everyone feels the same way that FF management does about these issues.

Suzi just confirmed with me that she'd be willing to make a cyber personal appearance here on FF in January, similar to Debbie D's cyber personal appearance, but it'll be on a weekday for about an hour and a half, maybe from 7:00 to 8:30pm, or 8:00 to 9:30pm. Should I firm this up with her? Is there enough interest from the membership?

Do you mean soccer, where guys run around a big field for ninety minutes for no apparent reason? I love listening to the BBC World Service broadcast the Premier League
scores: "Manchester United nil, Arsenal nil; Liverpool nil, Blackburn nil; Birmingham nil, Stoke City nil; Sunderland one, Blackpool nil," and on and on.

Algenon has a point, Smudge... It is a LOOOOOOOONNNGGGGG time between things happening in a football match over there... But then, compared to Cricket, where you play for three days and still don't have an outcome, I guess it's pretty exciting...

Plus, having lived there for a number of years, I was always struck by the fact that in American football, the violence is on the field, whereas in British football, it's in the stands!

To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of American football either. Being an ex-pat New Yorker, I'll watch it if the Jets or Giants are in the playoffs, but that's it. Besides, the football "mystique" as heavily promoted by the NFL gets more than a little thick.

But hey! Leave cricket alone! I love cricket! It's only the test matches that go on for days. I have an Indian friend who subscribes to international cricket via satellite. He invites me over whenever there's a one-day friendly match broadcast a reasonable hour, an invitation I seldom turn down. It's a great way to spend an afternoon or evening when the baseball season is over.
