Well, there have been a lot of free mainstream video clips given away through FF recently. Now, I think it may be time to organize some cheap video giveaways of genre clips. Would anyone be interested in a $2.00 per clip sale of my earlier videos... or does everyone already have them all? If there is sufficient interest, I would consider doing this and challenging other producers to follow suit. Of course, one place that I will not be posting news of this sale would be on DS and at least one other message board.
So, let me know your thoughts on this topic, and I will make a decision when I come back from my upcoming vacation.

Actually, I think that you should NOT offer your work so inexpensively! It is only fair that you sould get a decent payback for your costs! Maybe a sale is a great idea, but don't charge any less than, say, six dollars per video? In my state you can hardly buy a decent fast-food burger and fries for that much. And a sexy video is much more filling!
I have got to state that I find the organization of the Silk Videos site frustrating and hard to use. There seems to be no full lilsting of all of the available productions, and not much description of those that are available, much less preview images. It it's there I have not found it. Also, there seems to be no way to search out only preferred themes of demise. For example, I only care for asphyxia themes, but there is no way to get a list of which productions have it, or to exclude those that don't.
I realize that rebuilding Silk Videos with a search list function and more description and preview photos would be a huge job, but I think it would lead to more sales---and you might not need to have a sacrifice fire-sale........................elsullo
I think I have to agree with elsullo on both points here Boss. The site is a little frustrating for those who haven't seen the preview postings in the forum.
I would say if you are going for something like a one time, 24 hour "garage sale" on older videos, then that might be something that people who haven't bought older videos might do
when they might otherwise take a pass on them at full price...
I've seen other producers reduce prices on stuff that didn't sell well or that they were taking off the inventory, and then report that they sold more at the reduced price than the vid made in it's full price run...

Both of those points are noted. I would only be reducing the older clips, perhaps the first season or a portion of it, for a limited time period, but I agree that $6.00 per clip does make more sense, since my ebiller will be taking its share out of the sales.
The search engine is a little more difficult since I already have about 150 clips on the site, but nothing is out of consideration in the bluestone world. I will think on this and see if there is an internal website search engine program that is available, where I can program key words, such as asphixia and shooting. I have a search engine as part of my store software, but there are reasons why I don't want graphic descriptions and key words there. So that I don't have to re-invent the wheel, does anyone know about such a program?
As for descriptions and promo stills, aren't those below sufficient? The promo photos can be enlarged by clicking on the thumbnail on the site.

The current style of viewing promo photos and methods of demise are probably sufficient, but this seems not available for early productions. Or I should say, I have not found it yet.
The quality of the promo photos is poor, however. If you could include one photo in the standard hi-quality video resolution available, it might blow people's socks off!
As for a website search program, you might consult with Samson Alexae of The-Progressive-Art-Project.com Their site is collossal yet completely searchable, and I believe Samson programmed it. At the least, he could point you in the direction.

$2 or $6, I would be buying if the time I get some money to do so coincides with the actual sale! Hopefully that would be in about 3 weeks, as the job I know I have doesn't start until the 9th of next month, and my first paycheck wouldn't be available until the week following! I can hope that the timing is good for me, but will suck it up if not! Thanks!
Excellent idea. I do have most of your stuff in my area of interest but would certainly jump at the chance to pick those that, lets say, I wasn't sure about before when they are at a bargain price.
Okay, more news from the Bluestone House of Ideas!!!
As you know, I'm constantly striving to improve my videos as well as my site. You'd laugh if I showed you what my initial message board and Silk Videos site looked like 6 or so years ago, compared to what they look like today. So, there will be changes made this Fall. It may cost a lot of money and work on my end, but I've learned that there is an upgraded version of my store software which will allow customers to download their videos directly from the store site, similar to how they're downloaded at Nicheclips. No more emailed access codes getting lost in your spam filters! This will really streamline the purchase process.
So, the Silk Videos sale will coincide with the launch of the brand new Silk 'N Blood Video store. I'm hoping to have it up for Halloween for a goody giveaway similar to the candies being handed out to the kiddies on that spooky day.
I am also looking into the search engine idea for the promotional Silk Videos site.
As they say... the future is friendly!

The new Silk 'N Blood store is under construction, but it won't be launched for another month or so. When launched, selected videos will be on sale at $6 a pop, but probably the early seasons only. Sound good?
