I'm curious. How many use this function and how many go to the main page and from there to the various forums?

I've never used the Active Topics function. I prefer the New Posts button on the far right.

For those who are new to the FF board, unlike Geno, FF does not feel threatened by other community boards, such as Fetnoir. In fact, we try to encourage each other, because the community is always richer for having more than one place to hang out. Joint events sounds like a great idea and I applaud the suggestion from my sexy neighbour.

And yes, FF and FN have from Day One been joyful friends, helping to promote and support one another. As you say Blue, we are one big, fun, sexy, killer community. I love it when members of FN come here to hang out at FF too. Our idea of a Board War would be to have a sexy murder-party where we all get up smiling and hugging one another afterward!

It would be easy to do a shared chat Party Night together. Once your chatbox is up and running, we can announce a date (maybe a Friday or Saturday night, so everyone can stay up late and enjoy the sexy mayhem). We could guide our members on how easy it is to have two windows open on their monitor at once, displaying FF Chat and FN Chat simultaneously. Then we could jump back and forth with conversation, sexy play, and all manner of delightful murderous chaos. I'm totally looking forward to it already!

I don't think there is much that the operators can do to make the forum any better. What it needs is more member participation in the way of comments. There are a tremendous number of stories, pictures, videos etc., and very few comments.

That was what was great about DS. You could go there and see all that was going on, No hunting around for posts in different categories. It always just felt very alive and active, even when it was in a lull period.

Blue, you mentioned the "view unread posts" button. I never knew it was there. Same with the "view active topics." What's the difference, by the way?

My guess is that virtually no one knows this. One thing you might do is change the layout to make those two options very big type at the top of each of the pages.

The difference is that the "unread posts" are posts that a logged in member has yet to view, no matter how active they are, whereas the "active topics" are those that are most posted to most recently. So, if you compare it to DS, there's no "unread posts thread", and EVERYTHING is on an active posts format. That's why producers had to constantly bump their posts over there, because otherwise they would drop like a stone on the board. So, all you would really see on the first page would be active discussions and artificially bumped posts. Then, producers and others would be chastised for bumping their posts... and there would be the inevitable conflicts. That is why we have a separate Producers Forum and why Fetnoir followed suit with their's.

Hey, Blue! Your decision, of course. I'm just a one-stop shopping sort of fellow. I just never bounce around to three or four different sections of a board when I visit it. And I certainly wouldn't go to EIGHT different sections on two boards. Life is too short.

So, I've almost never looked at the "main discussion" part of either FF or FN, I used DS as a way of seeing the new producer stuff, plus all G-Man's great new clips and Big O's fantastic library, and then looked at any other topic that seemed interesting.

One thing to keep in mind is that DS was the most popular board by a large margin. It's sort of the difference between going into a restaurant that has a lot of people eating, talking and having a good time, and going into one that has one other table occupied. It just feels dead, and somehow, you're not really motivated to go back there... You've been conducting a market survey on the customers reactions to the Many-Sections approach for the past few years, if you think about it.

As for the difference between "Active" and "Unread," I do get what you're saying. I guess I'll try "Active" this week...

Here is an add on that refreshes the look of these phpbb boards, imho. When someone posts a link from youtube or instagram, twitter, etc... almost any social media platform, this add on automatically embeds the preview pics and the media into the board without the user having to do anything but post the url. All of the content is embedded in the board, but comes from external sources without chewing up resources. It would really spruce up the look of "Big-O's Youtube finds", just as a for instance. It looks really nice, and you don't have people constantly leaving your board when they click to get the content. I use it at my amazaon-warriors-fans.com site if you want to take a look.

Another add on to look at may be the tapatalk piece. I am not sure how much traction it has had, but the concept was to retrofit older messageboards into a format that is more friendly to mobile devices and resembled social media platforms, extending life. I have that one deployed as well, but I have no idea of anyone uses it.

This was the first board I joined over a year ago, and began posting reviews here. I quit because almost no one was commenting or even viewing them compared to the activity at D.S., so I felt there was no reason to post on two boards anymore. I sincerely hope that everyone that was active on Geno's board migrates over here, and this board becomes a thriving community again. I will begin posting reviews again in short order.

I, personally, liked the review forum as it's own entity, as opposed to how you just made it part of the producer's forum.

But the biggest annoyance to me is the alphabetical listing format of reviews on that page by Producer's name. For instance, to see the post you just made regarding Superheroines, one must scroll waaaaaaaaay down to the bottom of the page, even though it's the most recent post. Preposterous! To look at that page and see if anyone has made a recent posting, you have to sift down through a ton of dead threads whose last post was a decade ago, lol! Can't you make them list chronologically with the newest posts at the top, like other pages?

I will look into that way of organizing the reviews. A lot of tweaking is being done, but we will get it right sooner or later.

I think a lot of the DS crowd is already registered here and others are joining every day. I'm sure the activity will soon be up to your expectations.

To clarify, I DO like that the reviews are separated into individual studios. I just wish whichever studio's thread had the most recent posting was bumped to the top, as opposed to staying in alphabetical order, as it is now.

I like some of the ideas others have said. And like NF I use the new posts feature a lot, especially when I’ve been absent for a while. I can go to the forums I don’t look at as much and mark all read so it weeds them out.

I like the new board much better than the last one. Works on mobile 100% better for me.
