My Dwindling Purchase Trends

Apparently, I've become increasingly picky during the last two years. That, or I've become too afraid of getting burned by bad production values. Or both.
I just took stock of my year-to-date purchases, and discovered I've only bought 20 videos so far - twelve less than last year. I've even passed on a number of lift-up stranglings (my favorite kind) because something about them didn't appeal to me.
I wish I could just be thankful even one element of a new release piqued my interest enough to support the producer and buy a copy, but more often than not I find myself waiting to see if someone else releases something closer to what I like. In the long run, I end up buying nothing, or very few.
Quite a few times this year, I've thought about going through every producer's back catalog and buying a copy of every video that appealed to me in some small way just to tell them, "Yes, this is what I want to see. Please make more like this."
To what degree do you let your interests influence what you buy?
