WAVE Asks for Negative Feedback

There was another thread dealing with the quaility of the clips and an entire discussion about what customers really want and don't want.

But as someone pointed out, there are few negative reviews given.

I'm requesting that anyone who has seen a WAVE movie recently, please give me your honest opinion, particularly on the negative side.

If you haven't seen one of my movies lately, why not?

And if you've never seen a WAVE movie, again, why not?

I've learned over the last 25 years that the negative reviews are the most helpful because it shows what we're doing wrong and what we can do to correct it.

You can either leave your comments here or directly e-mail me at waveids@aol.com.

Thanks for your help.

Very commemorative to hear you asking for honest feedback!

First I would say... I think you seem to be a little hard on yourself in asking this way.
Personally I'm taking it as... your asking for “constructive criticism”.
To start, far as I know you were the very first producer to make films/videos with emphasis's on various female demise.
Pioneering the way for an eventual flood of other producers... (Slaymates, Dark Fantasies, Necrobabes, DDG, KHP, John M, Rue Morgue, exc, exc).
However there was one main difference between W.A.V.E. and all the others... you made full movies (at least one hour or more) with plots and character build-up... while all the other producers were mostly doing under 30 minutes and keeping things to a few scenes, customs and some atmosphere around a specific type of death scene.
This made your movies stand apart from everybody else by producing full length videos.
Having said that... and by doing so... it probably kept your production costs higher then the competition.
You taking weeks to some months to complete a title... your competition is banging out six or more in the same time.
Meaning... if you make 6 titles in one year and say only half do really well, you maybe only breaking even at best.
While the other guys who make 6 in 6 weeks, can make their money back a lot quicker if they too... only half are sellers.
The other guys are now keeping things tight with three or four scenes and 10 to 20 minute run time.
Also... a lot (other producers) are shooting two or three videos in one 8 or 12 hour day!
I don’t know real figures but... lets say producer “A” has access to two twenty year olds... pays them $300.00 each for one full day (9 hours).
Now lets say, from that... 2 weeks later the producer bangs out three 15 minute videos and puts them on their site for $15.00 each.
To break even... producer A only needs to sell about 40 total or about 14 of each title.
Then with decent video cameras being a lot cheaper today then 10 to 20 years ago... a lot more are getting into being a producer.
So I feel that you doing full length videos is one of your best selling points... as well as one of your drawbacks (especially at this time).
There are even a few producers who probably don’t care if they make money or not. (They're only doing it to fill their own fantasies)
This is only my opinion...if one wants to be in the death fetish video business today and be competitive... gather or make up a bunch of scripts... (if possible get clients to pay for customs) plan a day or two shooting schedule... and then shoot all segments then and there.
I guess in a nut shell... obviously competition is tougher then it ever has been.
