Not new. They do this a few times a year to keep "certain" unwanted eyes from seeing the site. Once the moment has past, it will get back to normal. Best not to create panic "news media" type panic and avoid those pesky self-fulfilling prophecies.

It appears that Nicheclips has locked down their site. No more free wandering access. It appears that one must have a user account or store ownership.

Anyone have more info ?

Statements preceeding answer some questions, but I have never encountered this before. Key element. This requires a double log-in in order to access your account or store.

But I believe one can get a bypass by using the log-in URL.

According to the email I received, this will be permanent. I noted that the opening welcome screen does not show "adult" warnings, nor any statement regarding content. That is another indication that this is a permanent lock down.

Also, any prior similar lock down (temporary) did not generate email notice to member users or store owners.......

Temporary or permanent, it is very annoying. The Progressive Art Project is now my vendor of choice.

Oh well. I personally think it should have been that way from the start. Probably would have been far less trouble over the years. I would rather only have those truly interested in this content seeing and with requiring registration, is one more extra step to keep kids out, further complying with CIPA requirements. We should all be for that.

As far as login, I am not sure what the big deal is. 99% of my customers use this service, thus have a login. When the page comes up, both Chrome and Firefox kindly autofill my info. The extra step is one extra mouse click.

I hope TPAP does the same thing.

Yep, it be a good thing.

Next step should be to separate Crush stores into a different server. They don't need the hassle like we do.

But what about the insect rights groups? I'm sure they want to shut down the crush stores just like the anti-necro groups want to shut us down! All of us are hated!

Perhaps I'm the lone voice of dissent. I closed my Nicheclips account.

Not sure what the problem is Max? If you don't have an account what do you want to access the site for anyway? And if you do, IE remembers the username and password so one click and you're in!

I don't mind using a password if I want to buy something or post something, but for browsing a catalog, no thanks. And I do not let my browser save passwords. I'm not the only one who uses my computer.

I understand. But if given the choice of keeping the site live and the financial support to 100's of people in this struggling economy, I would opt for safety over convenience. All of my regulars are already members so I have seen no change in sales. New people, if they want to look at or purchase material, will figure it out. Much of this community has grown through word of mouth, not blatent spam. And one thing I learned early on, it is best to fly under the radar and Niche, by requiring pass to see what some would consider offensive material, has done the right thing.

As far as browsing, I have almost 700 movies on my website searchable by title, actress and any keyword with full previews. And, on my forum I have over 30,000 screen caps from my movies. While I don't claim to have the most free, searchable content out there in this fetish, I am sure it is a lot.

And, I know Psycho-Thrillers has previews, Chris Corner, Ruemorgue and many other sites. So, at worst, if you want to search without registering anywhere, you can just look at the individual websites for the producers. You can even go on to Dark Fetish Net---though you might have to register for certain profile galleries.

Thanks,
JohnM
