Calling All Advertisers and their Fans!!!

FF Management is considering changing the Advertisers' Forum, and we would like your input.

As you know, we limit each advertiser to one active thread at a time. In this way, all advertsers have a presence in the top 20 posts, provided they advertise fairly frequently. The suggestion is to re-tool the forum to provide for separate subforums for each advertiser. These, of course, would be ordered alphabetically, but would still allow all advertisers to be seen on the main forum. Also, it would allow advertisers to have as many active threads in their own subforum as they wish. Other producers would be banned from posting in another producer's advertising subforum, in order to avoid the unpleasantness that took place recently and should have from the very start be raised in the All-Topic forum.

So, all in favour? All opposed? Any comments or other suggestions?

In concept it sounds good. But, knowing typical pattern of how people glance at forums, it would add additional clutter and reduce views even further. Honestly, there would be more views if instead of a producers forum, there was one thread on the main discussion forum for producers to advertise. The thread would get bumped as an announcement was made. A lot of people direct link to the forum section of their choice rather then the index (hence the low views on other sections) This way, you can remove the extra section while allowing the advertisers to achieve the "look at me right now" goal when they have something new. Then, I still think you should limit add bumps to no more then twice a week. While an add might scroll down fast, it would be one thread that a customer can look through to quickly see what producers are offering.

As far as general discussion and such for a particular producer, most producers have thier own dedicated forums or groups on DFN.

Thanks for your input. I will take your comments into consideration, but it's extremely unlikely that I will ever take a backward step by relegating the producer threads to the main forum like the DS situation, where threads have to be bumped constantly or they quickly drop off the face of the planet. That is a very unsatisfactory situation, and I firmly believe that FF's Producers' Advertising forum is a superior advertising tool than the DS free-for-all system.

As for most producers having their own forums or DFN page, that may be true, but those forums and pages generally attract only dedicated customers. FF consists of members who wouldn't necessarily surf around to ten different forums and 10 different DFN pages, just to see the latest wares from the best producers in the industry, when it's all here on one forum.

Those are my thoughts at least, but I am open to persuasive arguments

What do the rest of the producers think about the suggested changes to the Producers' forum.

I understand what you're looking at doing which would help to categorize products, topics, etc but I think your current structure is good the way it is. I think mayhbe including a category box suitsable for subject matter might be more appropriate such as CO-ED, SCHOOL GIRL, MILF or something that allows a combo thereof would be good for advertising and maybe a remarks box that allows a producer to squeeze in something like DVD special offers, etc. It would be a foot note type of box with enough space for 2-3 lines. Just a thought. (-:

I'm certainly happy with things as they are here on the producers forum. I agree with Blue that mixing them all up in one big grab bag would make pages slide off the edge of the Earth more quickly.

PT's suggestion of different categories is intriguing. I would like to see things broken down into genre's according to mode of death: shootings, stranglings, hangings, etc, etc.

Hi All,

Thanks for your input on this subject. Upon reflection, it seems that the cliche that applies to this situation is: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" Most of you seem to be happy with the way things are. In addition, subforums would make your actual announcements not viewable until a customer enters the subforum. Right now, all customers of all producers see all of the producers' most recent ads when they enter the forum to check out what's new. That benefit seems to be greater, than each producer having a subforum which would contain only their ads. PT's suggestion about categorizing the M.O. of the videos is a good one, but I think each producer can do so in an update's topic line. For example: "Blast Her" - a shooting - is now up!" or, for multiple categories such as with Big John's site: "Anne's Dreams - Decap, Hanging and Shooting Updates!"

So, for now, I won't tinker with success. I am always open to suggestions though, if anyone wishes to post same on this thread.
