Old Club-Dead Promotion

Hank posted this as a coming attraction many years ago with the title Commandos. Never saw this for sale, and no identification of the girl. Any idea who the girl is or if the video came out under a different title? Thanks!

(I'm not good on boards or posting pictures)

This was a project near and dear to me, and I had high hopes for it. We even had a segment where we exploded a small bunker with real explosives. We even had one set piece with bodies strewn about with real fires lit all around. There was so much to this movie---we shot it over several days and had a large cast. In 2016 I had a deal to upscale and release Ruemorgue content and had planned to edit it as part of the deal. But several months in, Hank changed his mind and I no longer had the rights to distribute. Though, funny story, I have the master to nearly all of Ruemorgues content---and now after 8 years it is still in my storage unit. :-(

Anyhow, I gave all that footage to the person that handles RM content now in hopes they might do something with it. But, it was all shot guerrilla style way back in the early-2000's and the edit would be a pain in the ass for anyone other then someone with a passion for the footage. And even then, upscaling, adding all the effects, digitally removing all the blinks would take tons of work. Even if I wanted to, because piracy has made sales so low, it would not be worth it when the average sales is 15-20 movies or about $200-300----certainly not worth 100's of hours of editing. So, it is unlikely it will ever bee seen.

Here is a little promo I did for it years and years ago: https://pkfstudios.com/samples/forum_media/commando.mp4

That is a shame as ther eis definitely potential there, John. It's a pity you can not get back the rites and content as, although wild and shaky, you can tell how much time and effort was put in to it. Perhaps there is some way you can work the footage in to a future production, perhaps in a flash-back sepia or slightly unfocused style to a previous misison that went pear-shaped? Or from a weird dream or memory?
Leaving it just sitting on some shelf gaining dust is really not a good outcome for such a decent and expensive project.

John didn't mention that he sent the footage to me because he didn't want to put any pressure on me about the edit. He's right that the edit would be complicated, and the sales would be lackluster, as most everything is these days.

And then you put in the complications with Gumroad shutting down our stores, and it's hard to figure out how to ever get any return for the work involved.

I'm trying to figure out if people would buy a "token" on Gumroad for a Rue Morgue or Black Nylons production, and then wait for the return of a link for the movie. That delay would be necessary because sending it would be a manual process for me.

It's all gotten very complicated, unfortunately, but the religious forces are marching on these days.

Thanks very much for the wealth of information behind this "Mystery" picture I found while cleaning up my disk.
And the teaser clip!

The girl was cute!

I have "Two Girls Gunned Down" by John and RueMorgue and was hoping to find more...

(Not knowing the rules, I put the blur on)

I have served many of my customers this way for years with my account system. Essentially, I keep an accounting (excel) of the customers balance. They email me the request, I upload the movies. Any of my customers that use this method are quite patient as they know it is just me, and allow time for such things as sleep, production days, etc. I have never run into a problem with folks complaining that I am slow to send the links.

The great thing about this method is that movies that are over the file size restrictions of one of my 3rd party selling sites, can be uploaded at the full bite-rate/resolution I intended. So, the customer gets that bonus, plus a significant discount as well.

Yeah, sorry, it is simply not in the cards anymore. Sometimes things get lost to time and this is one of them.

I’m recently retired and edit with the now defunct HitFilm Pro. (Premiere Pro was too rich for my blood) If the footage is available, I would be glad to make a rough edit without effects between Bingo games and return for your use/sale. (My retirement dreams didn’t pan out…) I’m with xj900uk and hate to see any form of this treasure collecting dust.

Well, that would be up to the owner. And the footage would have to be combed though by him to remove any references to real names and other personal data as well as taking out footage where crew that have no releases for visual appearance would be in shot. I am not sure he would want to do all that. The model releases and contracts are very specific in that regard.

Forgot about the NDAs and paperwork involved behind the scenes. If the owner has to go through that much effort to sanitize the video for transfer, most of the editing work is already done.

You're correct, easier to let this one collect dust on the shelf.

Thanks!

Actually, John, I have run the same system for some time for a few customers. As you say, it's fairly easy, but it does require someone giving me their email address, putting in a balance, and then being willing to wait for the clip link to be sent out. It's a manual process. Now that GumRoad won't take the Rue Morgue content, I wonder if good customers would be willing do that.
