Responding to Ignoramuses about your Death Fetish

Some of you know there's a new podcast that attempts to "reveal" and criticize the "death fetish community." Anyone who knows me knows that I actually DO take seriously the idea that our fetish requires genuine moral and psychological reflection. However, this podcast isn't that. It's actually shockingly ignorant to me. I mean that seriously: I would expect even people out to destroy death fetishists to do a bit more research. For anyone interested in resources to help respond to people like this, here is a Twitter thread I did linking to various things:

Thank you. You have actually had the most interesting and relevant points to make/share about the whole 'death fantasy fetish'.
I do wish that Alecia and laDonna would follow all the links you have put up and read the various journals, reports and books that have been published on the subject. I honestly did not know there were so many, I thought it was little more than a few pychoanalysts discourses and papers (including a couple that they have researched on Forums I have been a part of), but it honestly seems to be a lot more in-depth than that, a proper and thorough investigation in to the deptsh of the human psyche.
If Alecia and LaDonna would actually take the time to properly read up on this (personally I think they are pretty sloppy journalists moreout for sensationalism and a quick buck with their 'Nancy Drew'-type approach) then they might actually understand us and our community better. And then come back with some more sensible and intelligent points themselves.

Then do it. I want to see you do it. Go on their podcast. Try to change their minds.
Look folks, I've been a probation officer for over 22 years. I run cognitive therapy groups for criminals mandated by the court to complete them. Trying to change even a single person's perspective, let alone someone's moral compass, takes YEARS and personal face-to-face time. Not a podcast. Not a link to an academic theory. It takes confrontation. Over and over and over again. And after all that, you will likely not succeed. I'm talking through sheer personal experience in this matter.
So go ahead. Do it. I'm gonna sit back and watch it. I want to see you go on their podcast and try to have a meaningful conversation with them.
Just promise me you will post the results.

Just to be clear, there's no chance I would ever go on their podcast. I'm just pointing out why they are ignorant, and putting them in a hard place: either they pursue the actual relevant research and talk to experts—who will make them look like fools—or they ignore all of that and, again, look like fools.

I guess I'm more inclined to believe they're playing ignorant to lure us into a "debate," which would inevitably end up looking like a Jerry Springer episode, complete with exploitating the "trash" (us) that so fascinates them and increases their viewership. We are not a side-show freak, and I think it wise to not fall into that position.

Proper responses to insults:
"For you to insult me, I must first value your opinion."
or
"You mistake me for one who cares."
