Mike is a step behind as he tries to get information from call girl Eileen Vickers. But she's shot before she can divulge the key name. Then Jack's wife, Myrna, is gunned down at a party for no obvious reason.
Finally Mike begins to figure it out as he's observing the autopsies of Myrna and another victim, Bobo. He confronts the one person no one considered. His lover, Charlotte. Charlotte almost gets the drop on him, but Mike is too quick at the end and Charlotte winds up with a bullet in her belly. Her dazed look turns to a pained grimace as the reality sets in and she tries to crawl away. She dies struggling and groaning...
