Hi There,
I need some help... there seems to be a few FF Paysite members who are having
problems playing my newer MPEG video clips.
These clips are higher quality full screen MPEG's... and I have no problem playing them on any of my computer video players.
Also... they all play on Windows Media Players.
I have a member who says he can not play the higher quality ones... but no problem playing the standard MPEG.
Any way... below I have a sample of a high quality MPEG I use on the paysite.
Please... down load it and give me your feedback... IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS OR
DON'T HAVE PROBLEMS PLAYING IT... PLEASE REPLY AND LET ME KNOW.
PLUS!!!... please give any helpful advice for folks who are having problems playing them.
YOUR FEEDBACK IS VERY WELCOMED.
Thanks G
Here is a great belly stabbing scene as a sample.
RIGHT CLICK and SAVE TARGET AS... HERE to down load/save video. (9MB)

The video is coded in MPEG2. Virgin Windows does not include any MPEG2 decoder, so the MediaPlayer should not play it and display an error message like "cannot find decoder". Some people have a DVD. If there is bundled DVD player, it should include an MPEG2 decoder, most of the time in "Video For Windows" VFW version. In such case the Mediaplayer can use this MPEG2 decoder and able to play the clip.

Well, I'm not a paying member (yet), but I do have problems saving/downloading MPEG clips. With my current configuration, WMV files work while MPEG's do not.
The clip does open, but as a new tab with an initial display of "No Video Available". After a brief moment the video starts playing. Alas, I've found no way to save and later play an MPEG file.
I use VLC and WMP and I suspect the problem is mine. Anyone have suggestions on how I can re-set things to accommodate both?

i do not fully understand your statement "After a brief moment the video starts playing". So if it plays there should be no problem.
VLC has its own set of codecs which is not "Video for Window" VFW version. Whatever VLC can play does nothing related to the WMP which needs VFW codecs.
If you want to play MPEG2 (in this clip) in WMP you have to install VFW codecs and filters. I use CCCP:

I'll not pretend to know the proper protocols or nomenclature. Your assistance in educating me is appreciated!
A right-click does not allow for saving the file. A left-click allows the file to download (No Video) is displayed during the download, and once completed, the video plays just fine.
One question is how to save the file. And this primarily only applies to MPEG files.
This neophyte says thanks in advance!

Hey G-Man!
I right-clicked and SAVEd this clip to my harddrive.
I like Windows Media Player best, so when clicking on OPEN, I was surprised that RealPlayer opened and the clip played fine. I closed and chose WMP to play the clip and after a few seconds playing, it closed down, unable to play. The problem page says:
"Problem caused by PowerDVD
This problem was caused by PowerDVD, which was created by CyberLink Corp.. There is no solution for this problem at this time.
Recommendation
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A newer version of PowerDVD is available for download that might address this problem. CyberLink Corp. recommends updating to the latest version of PowerDVD to take advantage of security and stability improvements.
Go online to the following website to update PowerDVD:
CyberLink Corp."
I NEVER choose to use the PowerDVD, but I tried it, and the clip plays OK with that program!
The only other movie program I have installed is DivX player. That one would not even start to play the clip... instant error message "unable to play this video".
In saving other people's clips, they sometimes open with RealPlayer, but I usually go back and choose WMP and they play fine on it. But not this one.
Suggestions?
