For the short span of time I was a member there, I bore witness to more self serving crap than I wanted or needed.

Now we have this kind of beligerent posturing about banning women before the become members. What with handing out suspensions ("vacations" as he likes to refer to them) for anyone who should step up and put a light on the truth. We all know, or we all should realize, that he IS trying to put an end to the community. I think as Paul does, that he just wants everyone to go far far away form this community and he is doing more every day to set this in motion. Those who dare stand up are only muted by electronic proxy for their efforts, sometimes permanently.

There will be those that go down with that sinking ship, never caring to note that they too, have just as much a hand in hammering the coffin nails, as does he. As much as we'd wish them not to, lemmings will still follow one another off the edge of the cliff, despite the consequence.

I guess I'm the only one with a backbone to leave that board and I did it long before all of this. Maybe that's the problem. No backbone. Or they just don't care.

The problem is that DS is the single highest-ranked fantasy death fetish message board on the net. That's a helluva lot of exposure for the community, and a very hard thing to resist wanting to be a part of. It's the only reason I've tolerated Geno for so long. If DS had an Ignore User function, Geno would be the only one on my list. Otherwise, DS is, hands down, my favorite death fetish board. It was purely on a lark that I even clicked on that thread in the first place. In fact, the moment I posted my reply, and then logged out for the last time, my first thought was, "Great. Now what?"

I won't judge anyone for continuing to post there. I will miss DS, but I have to follow my conscience, and Geno's post was the last straw for me.

On a related note, I checked replies to my post last night. I wasn't the least bit surprised to find the Fantasy Death section of the board closed for a short while afterward, only to see it come back and find not only my post deleted, but his own edited to make himself appear more respectful. And then he wrote, in another thread, that the forum had been temporarily closed due to technical issues and to weed out some spam.

I can't imagine most people finding the place for the first time know anything about Geno, so I would guess it's in spite of him. Otherwise, I have no idea how the board attracts so many people, but he's obviously doing something right.

I just want to make sure your not suggesting that people who tolerate it, like myself are part of the problem.

I deal with many things on many levels. Not engaging a situation does not mean I approve of it, does not mean I am ignoring it, and certainly does not mean I don't type up long colorful responses, only to delete them in an instant. The threat of getting banned is not an issue with me. My personality is such that I like to get along with everyone at some level.

And, it has nothing to do with advertising. I did not spam this weekend and have done this before just to test the theory. No effect on sales. Rather, I am on the forums because I like to hear what everyone has to say and sometimes I like to speak.

For the most part, DS is not hostile. A hot thread or two every couple weeks. A huge bruhaha monthly. Things said by the moderator that cause cyber mouths to hang open. Talk of self destruction. Talk of banning. Time passes, a brief moment of silence, then it starts again. Could it be the nature of that forum because of the personality that drives it. For sure.

Look at my forum. It gets more traffic then most others but DS, yet, no nothing. Could it be my personality reflecting on that board. Laid back does not like confrontation---boring, I know.

And, back to this board--before advertisers were allowed or encouraged to post on the main forum, there was nothing...very quiet here. Blue changed up the makup of the board by adding a little friction.

Then, what if DS ran great. What if it's moderator was of a different personality and there were no conflicts or unpleasant bits. Where would this forum be.....still here, but none of these threads would be here.

So, for the most part, everything just sorts itself out. Geno pisses a few off, they come here, better for this forum. The conflict keeps people engaged and eventually, Geno meltsdown, wipes out the posts and pretends nothing happened. Then--start again.

I guess that that why I don't fight it. I know what is going to happen. The pattern repeats. Someone always benefits. Life goes on.

But, please don't think I condone any of it, or for pete's sake approve. I do, however, respect free speech. He is allowed to be they way he is and people are allowed to tolerate or ignore it (as many seem to), without being called out as something they are clearly not.

I understand. And, you answered my question about how you feel about people who choose to react differently then you do. So, thanks, I appreciate the candor.

I just hoped that for others who read my post, they understand that my reaction (or lack of) on a forum does not necessarily equate to how I feel about something personally. I am an emotional guy, I just find forums for me, are not a very good place to rant. I do from time to time....but not often.

If anyone was curious. I did react in my own way to recent events. My forum is closed to lurkers. My website is only accessible to members of my forum. I protect my talent. Among many things, they have my highest concern and respect. And, I protect my customer. I only want those who want to see, to see.

It's a small community and there are some colorful characters. I feel for the most part, we all get along.
