Yeah, I'm really regretting using the building I'm using. Once the site is up, it looks and runs great. But getting new videos added as been a nightmare. The uploader is a piece of shit. It will get to 90% done and then if the internet gets lost, it all fails and has to start at zero. If it would pick up where it left off, it would be fine. I could deal with that. I don't really know what to do other than try and try again until I get them loaded. And do it one at a time. Hoping nothing happens in the time it takes for one to upload. I've even set them up to load over night and they all failed. If this continues, I'm going to have to move the whole damn thing some where else. :)

Wix is not a good solution. I did some research on them after they bought DeviantArt in February 2017 and posted a note about the acquisition on my DA Journal. This was my follow-up post in response to someone who asked what was wrong with Wix:

--- Begin Text ---

What I learned about Wix, apart from DA's press release, is that they're a cloud-based web development and content management platform whose biggest competitors include WordPress, SquareSpace, and Weebly.

My research into Wix included:

* Reading several articles about the acquisition and any reader comments.
* Reading 28 consumer reviews spanning the last 2 years. Only 5 of them gave Wix high marks with 4 out of 5 stars.
* Watching two YouTube videos, published in 2015, that highlighted Wix's pros and cons.

Chief points addressed include:

Pros:

* Basic membership is free
* Easy-to-use templates with drag-and-drop interface, or
* Build from scratch
* Beautiful site presentation in desktop mode
* Robust app market for additional site features

Cons:

* (Pricey) App market is limited to paying members
* Site-building tools are overly simplified and woefully lacking
* Templates can't be switched without losing all of your content
* Technical support is slow to respond to inquiries - averages 3-4 days - and the quality of help is inconsistent
* Hosted sites load slowly
* Poor SEO performance, especially on Google. If you want to build a website that will get noticed, don't use Wix.
* Full-site templates are not responsive. Mobile-friendly versions of sites must be built from scratch using different templates.

My conclusion: DA made a bad decision.

I canceled my Core membership with DA because some of the complaints I read about Wix mentioned being over-charged by Wix for apps and services. Without knowing how the acquisition will affect DA's billing system, I don't want to risk my bank account being impacted by similar issues.

I've since renewed my Core membership and keep it active but now I use PayPal instead of letting DA charge me directly.

I've used Dreamhost for my clip site since 2004. They also host my 3D art board. I stopped hand-coding my clip site in HTML and moved to WordPress in 2014. I've never been happier.

Well I don't know about all that. I do know it's hard to upload the videos there. Everything else is fine. Took a bit to learn how they had it set up. I do have to click on 10 different links in order to get to upload a video which seems like a bit much. There may be a short cut I just don't know about. The functionality of the site is great! Customers can easily make a purchase that works like a charm and that's what really matters to me. Changing might just making it harder on them so as long as it works for them, I'll keep it like it is.

As long as it suits your needs, that's all that matters. Good luck! :)

Yeah, so far. Until they mess up the first time and then I will ditch them. I just mainly wanted every one to know why it was going so slow putting up videos. But today, I'm just doing them one at a time. It may take 2 hours per video but at least they are going up. Just can't dare do a bunch at a time. Can't trust internet to not have a hiccup once in 10 hours time.

If you are watching the site, you see I have added clips and more are going up throughout the day.

Looking good so far, though I'm not a fan of the in-line auto-zoom on the page previews. Having to move the mouse around to see the entire image is annoying. I presume that'll be addressed as you refine the layout.

I think in about 15 clicks of the mouse I can get to the place where I can change that! lol But yes, focused on getting stuff on the shelves right now.

I fixed it so that new videos appear on the front page and not the back. So when you first open the site, there are the newly uploaded videos.:)
