"Strangled Secretary" - A Custom Video Script

They recently completed a 5-day shoot with Samantha. They shot my scene on day 1, to make sure it was completed without incident.

Sadly, Levi's back blew out again on the fifth day, and all shooting had to stop. He hasn't been able to shoot Eve yet, and doesn't know when he'll be well enough to shoot any lifting again, so he's just going to start editing what he has next Monday morning, and deliver my movie.

I saw my video last night, and... am... extremely disappointed...

I already mentioned earlier my surprise in learning Kendra left her shoes on, despite my script having her remove them before she was attacked. I also asked for a strong emphasis on her feet during her death scene. Instead, I got only 11 seconds worth of foot shots out of a 4-minute attack from the moment Levi's character starts lifting her off the floor until her arms fall to her sides. To make matters worse, at 8:43, he left in a brief shot of he and Kendra preparing for the next take.

Then, they offered to shoot Diana and Samantha, so I took advantage of the opportunity to have Levi correct his previous mistake. I made it very clear I wanted both Diana and Samantha barefoot during their scenes because I wanted to see their toes pointing hard to reach the ground. I even asked to have Diana drop her shoes during the attack. Instead, they shot some weird moment for her in which it's obvious someone off-camera just tossed her shoes onto the floor after she died. And, while Samantha did compliment her outfit with a very sexy pair of strappy heels, she left them on throughout her scene.

Performance-wise, none of them were remotely as intense as I wanted. I also saw Kendra blink at least once while being carried over to the couch. Samantha played the last victim, and her performance was so hammy that I couldn't finish watching her death scene, or the rest of the movie, because I was so pissed off.

After sending them my finished script for Kendra's scene back in March, Levi commented on how easy it would be to follow. After reading it again myself, it's clear to me they didn't.

Overall, this was money very poorly spent, and the last time I work with them.

Thankfully, they've decided to give me a full refund, plus the extra $100 I spent on the shoes and dress I bought.

I'm cross-posting my reply from the other two forums I frequent, for convenience and concistency.

I had an adrenaline rush from the anger I was feeling by the time I stopped the video, and waited until I woke up the next morning to write them about my displeasure. I'm sure they do great work for other clients, and I have no hard feelings toward them or anyone involved in this project on a personal level. As the old saying goes, it's just business.

Levi's mistake - which he admitted - was thinking he could actually lift these girls up for any length of time, despite his bad back.

He looked noticeably uncomfortable, too, which didn't help his own performance. I knew from reading on the Chloroforum that his back pretty much limits him to shoulder carries anymore, and I didn't want him risking any unnecessary strain. That's why my script wanted him to simply hoist Kendra over his shoulder for the carry scene.

It's also why I prefer camera cuts between the feet and head instead of full-body shots. I would much rather watch a convincing illusion using off-camera tricks that are chock full of great close-ups than have anyone get hurt shooting full-body. Close-ups are also a helluva lot more erotic to me than feeling like a voyeur watching from a distance.

To that point, this is the also the last throatlift I'm going to commission with anyone unless a producer can guarantee the safety of everyone involved.

Why don't you see if there's any way you can actually be 'on set' when your custom video is being made, Nyghtfall. That way you can advise the director how to do the shots, set up the pose and close-ups of anything like bulging eyes, bare feet twitching etc? I know there are a few people who will do it
Before you've asked, I've already received a few offers from people who have said they wouldn't mind my input as an assistant director on set but I've had to turn them all down - far too ill now to travel, virtually housebound and can't fly under any circumstances
