After three long troublesome months, Horror Variety Theater is back on line.
At the end of May, the FBI virus infected our video edit computer. It proved to be too insidious and pervasive. After 2 weeks the professionals gave up. Another 2 weeks was lost acquiring and attempting to put a used desktop together. So we bought a new HP with Windows 8. (hint: learning curve 1). To this was added office software and Pinnacle 16 Ultimate video software (hint: major learning curve 2).

Wisdom prevailed and we bought the Pinnacle training on demand. During this period we were limited to a Windows 7 laptop from which we could load existing productions only. Even though we continued to film, we had no edit capability.

The training identified the need for a firewire board. Not all firewire boards are standard. It took another 4 weeks to get the right firewire board that was also Windows 8 compatible. Finally at the end of August, we were able to run upload tests. They seemed unsuccessful, but it was time to try editing.

Priority for edit went to three customs backlogged since June. These were completed over the Labor Day weekend. Finally caught up, we completed the edit of one of our own videos. Watch for the ads.

Added to the situation was the diagnosis of a major illness in June followed by extensive tests and biopsy, plus special surgery. Needless to say major depression hindered progress and added to daily delays.

When the edits were completed, the depression lifted dramatically. Now anything seems possible.

As an aside, Pinnacle 16 Ultimate is extremely powerful. We have barely begun to explore all the possibilities.

So. Does this also mean we'll start getting digital ad copies of preview pics now, or are you still going to print out your collages first, and then scan then back in to your new PC?

I'm glad to hear everything is back up and running again. Depression of any level can be a pain too. for editing I like to use either windows live movie maker or imovie. I want to try to put windows movie maker on my pc as well.

Sorry, there is no collage maker. You can take snapshots which are automatically stored in a user-defined folder, but you'll have to use a photo editor to assemble the snapshots in a collage. Also, snapshots are saved in the same resolution as the source video, so plan on having to resize them as needed.

If you'd like, and are comfortable with the idea, I'd be happy to start creating the collages for you, free of charge. All you'd have to do is send me the pics prior to each update. I'll assemble them, and then send you the finished collage for posting on your store. I just don't want to see you continue creating ad copy that looks like old video footage from the 80's when you've got all this shiny new tech to play with.
