Disappointing DS moments?

Post by Big O »

Ever see a DS scene where the female victim went one way, but you really wanted her to go another? Or a frustrating experience where you have a hot babe, scene and potential and she winds up dying off screen? What are some of your DS disappointments?

4 immediately come to mind:

Angie Dickinson's off screen shooting in "The Killers". What lost potential!

Caroline Munro getting blown up in "The Spy Who Loved Me". That beautiful belly of hers was ripe for a bullet or a knife!

Venetia Stevenson sacrificed on an alter by witches in "Horror Hotel". What a great victim and senario. But when the knife slams down...An immediate cut to a knife going into a birthday cake! A great dramatic cut, but how I would have loved to see the actual stabbing, reaction and aftermath!

Phyllis Coates fleeing and screaming in terror, only to be strangled off screen by the titular monster in "I Was A Teenage Frankenstein"

Quick answer:
Any scene where the lead up happens in daylight, but the actual 'act' happens under cover of darkness..
(dark room, darkness, cave, etc) What did the director have to hide? poor effects? poor acting?

I'll think of examples in a later posting

:pc:
Duct tape is like the Force...
it has a light side...
and a dark side...
and it binds the galaxy together...

I hate it where they have a brilliant, moody atmospheric build-up then cut away at the dramatic moment. Also loads of potentially brilliant DS moments are ruined by pure lousy or incompetent editing
