just a thought

Post by zikazika »

hey all..

i have been a lurker for a long time but have decided to share with u my feelings about current producers.
honestly i haven't seen any decent production in a while. all producers seem to be shooting the same plot over and over again. it's getting boring and feels like a waste oh money. i think the problem is that they (the producers) deal with models rather than actresses and they have no talent. i have stoped buying movies bc everytime i give myself hope that it will be good then i regret buying it. i wish the producers would show these models some scenes from main stream movies then they know how to do it. IMHO the one who does decent job now is paola. she is very talented and creative. others don't really know why they r popular like debbie d (no offence but her stuff is really cheesy). dalila has a lot of energy n potential but also does the same plot. the who introduces different ideas is pst but i think they need to take it easy with the sexuality. but finally i think that uksg had it all n its a shame they r not around except for those 3 movies they have done here.

i don't mean to offend anybody but rather frustrated and i think many will agree with me.

Thanks for sharing your frustration. Hopefully, others will also post their thoughts on this topic. I personally do use trained actresses as well as models. The co-productions that I have done with UKSG also feature real actresses, and I am doing more of these. How does everyone else feel about this subject. Does the acting really suck in most genre productions? Does the Candid Review forum help to steer customers like zikazika to the quality productions and away from the boring been-there-done-that and cheesy stuff?

I have had pretty good luck over the years. I get plenty of good feedback, rarely any bad. But, at this point, I have 460+ movies floating around and I am sure there is bound to be issues.

Let me address some.

Actresses Vs. Models
Well, I suppose that would depend on your definition. One might call themselves an actor of they are doing local theatre or beating the pavement in LA while waiting tables. And, whether they can act better then the amateur who puts there emotions on the out their for everyone because of "that thing" that happened with them when they were a kid, who knows. I can tell you that I have had some models whom I call actresses that on day one, blew away any I'd known had stage or b-movie experience.

Face it, we don't have the luxury of doing "casting calls" and seeing who can flail the best while in various states of nudity. While I can act as hi-brow as I want and other producers can fantasis they are whatever they are because of not doing some content or doing other content, it comes down to this: Necro Fetish. And, that limits the casting.

But, limits present opportunities. LIke, Whitney, the cheerleader turned necro actress. She is sweet as chocolete and has the best reaction to strangling I have ever seen. Could be because she likes it. A union SAG actor probably wound not let the rope get tight at all, let alone turning their face purple. Then there is Kay, acts so well that in the most recent production I did with her for another studio, the editor wrote me back, "she was just too realistic--I am going to have to find a way to tone her performance down".

But, not being able to cast also produces the duds. There is no waste in this business. There are not enough customers and the fetish creates an aura of fickleness that disallows things that hollywood might get: staff, crew, catering, trailers, the ability to hire, fire and replace. Not for us. We have to take everything and work with everything. But, sometimes I am surprised. Possibly the worst, most cardboard acting model I ever hired was Hunter. While I am sure her body helped a lot, I still get emails every time publish about how well she does. Perhaps it is all the retakes I made her do. Perhaps it was the real tight garrote method--that seems to work a lot. :-)

Repetition Vs. Expectation

Some of what is thought of as repetition by producers might actually be explained by customer expectation. I have been doing this for 15 years. In that time, I learned a lot. One thing is what stories always sell. Other producers may have learned this as well. Also, some producers will copy others. Sometimes this is accidental. There are only so many stories you can surround base action sequences with. In all these stories, the girl ALWAYS dies. So, right there, you have the same ol' dying thing in every frikken movie. You also always know she is going to die. It becomes mundane, perhaps subconsciously, and this affects your overall experience. Other things then must be different enough that the same old strangle or shooting on the same old bit of carpet does not drive you insane.

Studios have limitations. For instance, I shoot in a studio. So, there is sameness. Also, a working studio like mine has to be consistant in staff--especially when bringing in new people to do adult work. There are safety concerns and working relationships that have to be addressed. I imaging it is much the same for other producers. Thus, you frequently see the same set of perps. Sometimes it is always the same person. There is a reason. It is not for lack of guys wanting to act. It is for lack of TRUST in the guys that want to act. Safety and consistency are part of what help keep models and actresses happy with our very ADULT studio. And, back to the above part, there is no luxury of "casting". When someone books a custom with a model for $800, of which the model gets $600, the $200 left does not pay for running an ad and casting for a different actor--in a fetish film no less. Then, there is whether the actress would even work with said actor. And, if adult work, there it testing involved and other factors.

So, yes, I can see where again repetition can be seen. And, as you can see, by nature, it is bound to happen. I don't have to go into what some smaller producers might have to do but it should be easy to understand--shooting in the same location, using themselves as talent.

Then, there are the CUSTOMS. This whole community is largely supported by customs. Since the customer is paying for exactly what they want to see, you are seeing some of the same stories produced with some variations by other producers. Some series might even be the same, just a different model.

But again, this all can be attributed to overall profits. Every producer I suspect wants to expand, wants to do more, but are constrained by limitations of profit. No one puts out a movie and makes 1000's and some not even 100's. Some, never profit at all. And, when some producers make some grand production, and there is no great surge of profits, it is certainly a bit discouraging, because you then realize that even if you could produce at hollywood budgets, there is only so many people to support this genre.

UKSG

This, hopefully will not piss anyone off, but here it goes.

The type of movies they make, while appealing to a certain base, do not appeal to a large enough base to justify emulation very often. As specialty customs, I am sure they did great. As free releases, they are popular.

Let me explain. I can make movies that look just like movie. I can copy sequences from famous movies and I guarantee, they will be spot on.

But, that is not what most want to pay for. If I do it for free--yay, lot of fans and thank you's. But, unfortunately, the audience that pays, want way more nudity. I am not talking about porn at all. I have done all sorts of experiments over the years in various genres with various actresses and I wish it weren't true, but most of the voters (those that buy), don't like to buy things unless, at some point, all the body parts are shown.

Also, G/G scenes have less appeal, though this shifts back and forth over time, but never for long. There is a set limit to a G/G movie surge. And, we are in one right now actually......but, it will probably end soon.

And to zikazika, you have my attention. I thank you for reminding me that, yes, I can be an artist and I can produce excellent creative movies. And, you are a customer for producers that make them. Right now, I am still in that supporting my studio and staff stage. But, one day, I hope to have the leeway to take some chances and when I do, I hope there are people to support that as well.

Anyhow, my 3.2 cents...obviously my perspective is skewed. I should write for uncyclopedia.com (excellent, funny, site).
